Information on this page is intended for group quarters administrators and contains important information on the U.S. Census Bureau's process for counting facility residents.
In preparation for Group Quarters Enumeration and Service-Based Enumeration, the Census Bureau will begin contacting facility administrators in February 2020 to obtain important identifying information about their facilities to assist with the enumeration process. The Census Bureau will schedule a date and time to conduct the enumeration and obtain a preferred enumeration method, as appropriate.
For the 2020 Census, Group Quarters Advance Contact will be conducted across the United States, including in Puerto Rico, from February 3 to March 6, 2020.
Group Quarters Advance Contact is conducted from area census offices, which are part of the six regional census centers located in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia.
