New American Community Survey Data Products Available for the 118th Congress

Press Release Number CB23.13

JAN. 26, 2023 — Today the U.S. Census Bureau released new social, economic, housing and demographic statistics for the 118th Congress from the 2021 American Community Survey (ACS). The four Data Profiles are available for all 435 congressional districts on the Census Bureau's FTP site and through a web-based lookup tool on the ACS website. The My Congressional District data tool has also been updated for the 118th Congress.

The ACS provides a wealth of timely social, economic, housing and demographic data for all congressional districts and state legislative districts that can be used for analysis and planning. Congressional members and staff can use these data to produce current snapshots of the characteristics of their districts.

The Census Bureau collects new congressional and state legislative district boundaries resulting from redistricting on a 2-year cycle, in line with each congressional session. The cycle that occurred directly after the 2020 Census did not conclude in time to include the new districts in the regular ACS releases in 2022. Recognizing the importance of providing up-to-date data for the new districts, the Census Bureau is providing special Data Profiles for the new congressional and legislative districts.

To learn more about these new products, read our America Counts story Release of American Community Survey Data for the 118th Congressional and 2022 State Legislative Districts. Data Profiles for the 2022 state legislative districts from the 2017-2021 ACS 5-year estimates will be released on March 16.

The Census Bureau also released new Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) and Variance Replicate Estimates data from the 2017-2021 ACS 5-year estimates today.
